The Black Seeds, uma banda neozelandesa,  com "One by One", do álbum "Into the Dojo" de 2007.

Não é das minhas bandas favoritas, mas de vez em quando há momentos que só podem ser preenchidos com uma música como esta. Aqueles em que não queremos grandes pensamentos nem raciocínios e a lógica não é sequer chamada a intervir. 

O meu Verão podia era estar a começar agora outra vez.

The Black Seeds, a group from New Zealand that gives us "One by One", from the "Into the Dojo" album, released in 2007. 

It's not one of my favorite bands, however there are moments that can only be fullfiled with a song like this one. Moments when we don't want any major thoughts, nor great reasonings and logic wants nothing to do with them.

My Summer could be starting all over again.

TV On The Radio - DLZ

Ando a ver uns episódios de "Breaking Bad" e no outro dia deparei-me com esta.

A música chama-se "DLZ" e pertence ao 3º álbum (Dear Science) dos TV On The Radio, uma banda americana formada em 2001 em Nova York.

Com uma pesquisa rápida fiquei a perceber que o nome do álbum se deve a uma nota que um dos elementos da banda escreveu, dizendo:

"Dear Science, start solving problems and curing diseases or shut the fuck up."


I've been watching some episodes of "Breaking Bad" and the other day I came across with this one.
The song is called "DLZ" and belongs to the third album from TV On The Radio, an american band formed in 2001 in New York.
Through a quick research I found out that the name of the album (Dear Science) was due to a note that one of the band memebers wrote, saying:
"Dear Science, start solving problems and curing diseases or shut the fuck up."

Baile Popular - Rosa à Janela

Baile Popular, mais um projecto liderado pelo imparável João Gil e João Monge, que se iniciou em 2010. Conta com as vozes alentejanas de Zé Emídio, Luís Espinho, Paulo Ribeiro e João Paulo, e ainda com a participação de Mário Delgado, Alexandre Frazão e Miguel Amado.

Poderá dizer-se que a essência deste projecto vem já dos tempos de "Rio Grande" e volta a concretizar-se aqui. Uma essência que deve existir desde os tempos em que o Homem foi feito: a de captar um povo, uma cultura e a sua voz.

Como João Gil diz em primeira pessoa:

"Dessa maneira contámos e cantámos com quem e como é que as cidades se formam e se fazem. Procurei na altura as pessoas e as vozes que melhor traduziriam o espírito e o som das ideias.

Melody Gardot - Iemanjá

Melody Gardot traz-nos um novo álbum "The Absence", lançado em Maio deste ano, com inspirações portuguesas dos meses em que viveu em Lisboa. Exemplos disso são músicas como "Lisboa" e "Amália" que, não tanto pelo estilo de música mas sim pelas letras, se tornam bonitas homenagens ao nosso país. Homenagens essas que Melody insistiu em fazer ontem no seu concerto em Cascais, tendo repetido inclusivamente parte da música "Lisboa", dizendo que era bom saber que as pessoas compreendiam o que ela estava a dizer.

Mostrou um álbum mais étnico, mais internacional, com uma forte pincelada brasileira e a par disso, uma personalidade bem mais divertida e energética do que esperava.

Tivémos direito a um encore e depois ainda convenceu o violoncelista a tocar mais uma só com ela, usando o violoncelo como se fosse uma viola, dedilhando com a mão esquerda e direita ao mesmo tempo. Fenomenal, não só pela originalidade, mas pelo surpreendente improviso que criou.

O concerto foi cativante, misterioso, muito diferente do que seria simplesmente pôr um álbum a tocar. As músicas foram bastante alteradas para permitir aqueles rasgos de genialidade que só podem surgir em improvisações (e que depois temos pena de não ter gravado) e proporcionaram-se momentos e atmosferas que só que lá estava sabe. Só assim é que vale a pena.

Uma palavra resume tudo: qualidade.

Nude, simple, liberator. 

À primeira vista parece que estamos perante algum tipo de inocência, que se vem acentuando por uma melodia simples e onírica. Mal sabemos nós que já caímos nas teias de Radiohead...Quando menos esperarmos a mente já voou por outras bandas e já foi bem retorcida nas imensas interpretações possíveis de uma simples música.
