Jake Bugg - Something Wrong

Jake Bugg, um rapazinho proveniente das terras de Robin Hood (Nottingham, Inglaterra), que lançou o seu primeiro álbum dia 15 de Outubro de 2012, auto-intitulado "Jake Bugg".

Esta música, "Something Wrong", não pertence no entanto ao referido álbum, fazendo parte de um set de três canções em acústico que fez.

Parece um rapaz obstinado nas suas ideias, que faz apenas aquilo com que se identifica em termos artísticos. E a verdade é que é dessa matéria que os melhores artistas são feitos.  

Jake Bugg, a boy that comes from Robin Hood's hometown (Nottingham, England), that has just released his debut and self-entitled album "Jake Bugg" on the 15th of October of 2012.

This song "Something Wrong", however, doesn't belong to the mencioned album but is one amongst a set of three songs played in an accoustic format that Jake Bugg recorded.

He seems to be a headstrong boy that will only do things with wich he can relate artistically. The truth is that is from that matter that the best artists are made of.

Um retorno à disco fever, a que se juntam uns toques de insanidade que lhe sacodem o pó e a colocam nos dias de hoje.

"Music In My Mind", a song from Lindstrøm and Christabelle from the album "Real Life Is No Cool", the only album where these two norwegian musicians got together, released in 2010.

A return to the disco fever with a twist of insanity that brings it into our days.

Wankelmoods - Vol.1: Review

Wankelmut, a young german DJ that, like many others, decided to take on an adventure guided only by music. As always, music doesn't disapoint and the road was guiding him to remix the song "One Day" from Asaf Avidan & The Mojos, that brought him into the day light in front of the public eye. This song was already covered in a previous post.

The novelty now is the release that happened just yesterday, the 2nd of November, of his debut compilation of remixes, presented by Poesie & Get Physical Musik. This label already represents artists like Booka Shade, Audio Fly and Nôze, but didn't want to let this one go and now embraces Wankelmut with his new release.

The compilation?

It's called Wanklemoods - Vol.1 and the name says it all. It gives us a personal interpretation of a solid selection of songs that  enables some personal insight.
It starts with Acid Pauli remix of "El Zahir", an original from Raz Ohara, that introduces us to the spirit of the whole compilation and prepares us to the journey we're about to get on. However, the best is yet to come with some treats that oscilate between sober dancing or hipnotic environments, like the one in the DJ T. remix of "Lovework", an original of Black Light Smoke. There are some bumps in the road with some repetitive beats, letting us know that there is room for a certain improvement, but the spirit is never lost. And that is how, across beats with funny names, we can experience a mix between the shades of the dark beats and the freshness of some lighter sounds, ending it with the song that started it all: "One Day/ The Reckoning".
So, here's the tip: try it yourself.

Wankelmut, de nome Jacob Dilßner, um jovem DJ alemão que, como tantos outros, se lançou à aventura guiado pela música. Como sempre, a música não falha e o caminho já estava traçado para que viesse a remixar a música "One Day" de Asaf Avidan & The Mojos, que o catapultou imediatamente para o conhecimento público. Desta já eu falei noutro post.

E é assim que entre ritmos de nomes esquisitos, podemos experienciar um misto que oscila entre a penumbra dos dark beats e a frescura de sons mais abertos, terminando com a "One Day/ Reckoning Song", curiosamente a música com que tudo começou. 
Fica, portanto, a dica para quem quiser experimentar.

Asaf Avidan & The Mojos - One Day/The Reckoning (Wankelmut rmx)

A música original chama-se "Reckoning Song" e pertence ao álbum com o mesmo nome, de Asaf Avidan & The Mojos, lançado em 2008. Esta banda israelita fez entretanto uma "creative break" para que Asaf Avidan se pudesse concentrar numa carreira a solo.

A música que aqui deixo é um remix dessa mesma música pelo DJ alemão, Wankelmut. Como tantas outras, sem um sistema de som com um bass apropriado não será possível desfrutar da música em condições. Portanto, portáteis...it's not gonna happen for you. Mas pronto, amanhem-se.

Fora isso, boa disposição e força nas canetas.

The original song is called "Reckoning Song" and belongs to the album with the same name, from Asaf Avidan & The Mojos, released in 2008. In the mean time, this isrealite band went on a creative break so that Asaf Avidan could focus on a solo career.

The song that I post today is a remix from the last one by a german DJ, Wankelmut. As many others, without an appropriate soundsystem and bass it won't be possible to enjoy the song in conditions. So laptops...it's not gonna happen for you.

It gives me sweet disposition and good energy. That's what one wants.

Disclosure - Carnival

Bem que andava a precisar de refrescar os ouvidos.

Uma dupla de irmãos do Reino Unido que se auto-denomina Disclosure e que traz esta "Carnival" da EP "Carnival/I Love...That You Know". 

De repente lembram uma sonoridade semelhante à de James Blake, mas teria de conhecer o trabalho deles em maior extensão para poder afirmá-lo com mais certezas...which (by the way) is no problem at all! Venham mais destas.

Uma que vem lá do baú, de outros tempos e noutros mundos.

Deste álbum do Sam the Kid gosto de praticamente todas. Foi o seu primeiro álbum só de beats, muito antes de Orelhas Negras e coisas que tais. Imagino que na altura sonhasse com voos mais altos, tal como a miúda que se deitava a ouvi-lo. 

É um álbum que, na minha opinião, precisava de algum trabalho para atingir outra maturidade ou profundidade, mas por outro lado...são fases. E eternamente hoje é o único lugar que conhecemos.
